Arkitera Architecture Center has been organizing ARKIV Selections for 5 years in order to document the architectural production in Turkey. ARKIV Selections project, which aims to chain the architecture of Turkey in the previous year and to create a source, is carried out via ARKIV, the most comprehensive architectural reference guide of Turkey, published by the sponsorship of Kalebodur. The results of the assessments, which reflects the cultural, social, economical, environmental and aesthetical criterias as well as the personal approaches of the selection committee, is determined by majority of the votes.
ARKIV Selections 2011 assessment was carried out by a selection committee of five: Yeşim Hatırlı on behalf of Turkish Association of Architects in Private Practice (TAAP), Boran Ekinci on behalf of İstanbul Association of Architects in Private Practice, Dürrin Süer Kılıç on behalf of İzmir Association of Architects in Private Practice, Prof.Dr Ferhan Yürekli from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Selin Biçer from Arkitera Architecture Center. This year, alike from the previous years, installations and temporary structures had also took place within the assessment. The selection committee defined this kind of structures as the "new architecture, the architecture of future", and three structures of this category has deserved a place in the selections.
The projects which take place on ARKIV Selections 2011 is being exhibited for the first time on ArkiPARC 2012 Real Estate Meeting.
